Woman charged in alleged shooting at Eastpointe home

A Detroit woman has been charged with shooting her boyfriend in Eastpointe last week.

Tiana Luckett, 34, was accused of brandishing a kitchen knife at the man and firing a gun at him after an argument turned physical Thursday, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.

Luckett’s boyfriend defended himself and the shot missed him, according to the statement. The bullet went through the wall of the apartment and into another unit where two neighbors were unharmed, prosecutors reported.

Luckett was arraigned Friday in 38th District Court on 13 felonies including assault with intent to murder, use of a firearm while committing a felony and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person, according to the release.

She was also charged with one count of domestic violence, a misdemeanor that could carry an additional 93 days in prison.

Magistrate Mark Makowski set Luckett’s bail at $750,000.

A probable cause hearing and preliminary investigation will be held on August 6 and 13, respectively.

A court-appointed attorney is not listed in Luckett’s online court records as of Tuesday.

“We must hold individuals accountable for their actions, especially when those actions result in harm or endanger life,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in the news release. “Our goal is to seek justice for victims while addressing the broader issues of domestic violence within our community.”

Prosecutors charged Luckett as a habitual second offender, according to the release.

Online court records show a judge dismissed second-degree home invasion charges against Luckett in 2021. Another case against her for receiving and concealing stolen property was dismissed in 2019.

Older records show she allegedly failed to display a valid license, had no proof of insurance and an incorrect license plate during a 2017 traffic stop.
