State declines to press charges against trooper who fatally shot Northway man | Alaska News

The state declined to press criminal charges against Alaska State Trooper Timothy Rosario, who shot and killed 21-year-old Timothy Thomas in October in Tok. The Alaska Department of Public Safety has released dash camera footage and the 911 call audio associated with the incident.

The Alaska Department of Law’s Office of Special Prosecutions reviewed evidence in the case, including the investigation by the Alaska Bureau of Investigation, interviews, audio and video recordings, photographs and an autopsy report. The state sent a letter to Colonel Maurice Hughes, director of the Alaska State Troopers, on July 11, that Rosario was justified in using deadly force and criminal charges are not appropriate.
