Texas Tech football: 3 public fan events underway

Texas Tech football fans have three opportunities to see coaches and/or players in preseason events open to the public. Here’s a rundown of where you can catch Tech coach Joey McGuire and other things Red Raiders before the season opener on August 31 against Abilene Christian at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Red Raider Club kickoff lunch

McGuire and Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt are the headliners of the annual event scheduled for Aug. 22 at the Memorial Civic Center. Members of the football, volleyball, cross country and soccer programs will also join in the festivities.

Doors open at 11:15 and the program is scheduled to start around The Goin’ Band from Raiderland and Tech spirit squads will perform before the program starts.

General admission tickets starting at $25 and reserved tables for $750 are available at redraiderclub.com/events. More information can be obtained by calling the Red Raider Club at (806) 742-1196.

Meet the Red Raiders

The Tech football team will host its annual Autograph Day from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on August 24 at Sports Performance Center immediately south of Jones AT&T Stadium. There is no entry fee.

Fans are asked to park in the west lot of Jones AT&T Stadium. Parking on the east lot is not available due to the ongoing projects for soccer facilities.

To accommodate all attendees, Tech is asking fans to follow one item per person to be autographed. Technical staff will provide free schedule posters in the main trackside entrance of the Sports Performance Center.

Knights of Columbus Tech Night

Family: Wears many hats: Perry has full plate with Tech running backs, special teams

McGuire, Tech assistant coach Kenny Perry and Tech track and field coach Wes Kittley are scheduled for the Knights of Columbus 63rd Preseason Event scheduled for August 24th.

The event takes place at the Knights of Columbus Hall located between Slide Road and Quaker Avenue at 4702 130th St. Doors open at 5 p.m., and a pulled pork sandwich dinner will be served until 6:30 p.m., according to event organizers.

Tech Night includes an auction of Texas Tech and other sports memorabilia, as well as performances by the Goin’ Band and Tech cheerleaders.

Tickets are $40 at the door. They cost $30 online or by calling the Select-A-Seats box office at (806) 770-2000 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. Young people under the age of 12 have free entry.
