Vote for development of your communities — Prof. Opoku-Agyemang

Vote for development of your communities — Prof. Opoku-Agyemang

The Vice Presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has advised voters to choose the development of their communities over monetary incentives as the election campaign heats up.

She said politicians would come with all kinds of monetary and other incentives but said it must not influence their votes, saying “we have to vote for our well-being and the future of the country.”

She said the December general election would be the political party committed to the development of the country and urged voters to vote for John Dramani Mahama of the NDC for accelerated development.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang made the remarks at Ankyeanu where she spoke on a community engagement in Assin North Constituency in the Central Region as part of her tour of the region.

Buying votes

She said it would be worrisome for politicians to buy votes with money believed to have been used for infrastructure development.

“If there is money to buy votes, why aren’t the hospitals built? Why aren’t the roads ready? Why are children in school without books?” she asked.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged voters to choose transparency and development and vote massively for John Mahama and the parliamentary candidate, James Gyakye Quayson, to bring development to the area.

Keep the seat

The Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson, said he was confident of retaining his seat in the December 2024 polls.

“Assin North will renew my mandate because they appreciate the work I do and I also appreciate the dignity and respect. I am resilient and fighting for them. They know I will never leave them behind,” he said.

Mr Quayson said the NDC had undertaken several infrastructural projects including electrification projects, water and schools in the communities and appealed to voters to vote en masse to return the NDC to power.

The Queen Mother of Ankyeanu, Nana Kyeiwaa appealed to Prof. Opoku-Agyemang to ensure that the proposed Women Development Bank supported rural women for better livelihood of rural women.
