1 of 2 suspects charged in Alabama killing of pregnant woman, man charged with murder

One of two capital murder suspects in the 2015 fatal shootings of a pregnant woman and a Muscle Shoals man had his case dismissed Tuesday, court records showed.

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall’s office, which is prosecuting the murders of Gary Baskins25, Kayla Glover, 23, and Glover’s unborn child in Muscle Shoals, were granted their motion to dismiss their case against Shaun Michael Ryan.

The motion was made days after Colbert County Circuit Court Judge Mitchell D. Hays ordered that statements Ryan gave to prosecutors could not be used at trial.

In May, Ryan’s attorneys argued that he was not read his Miranda rights and that he was intoxicated — and even passed out — during his six-hour interview with then-Colbert County District Attorney Bryce Graham.

Last week, the prosecutor’s office announced that charged Travis Eric Fallows35, with four counts of capital murder in connection with the murders.

The fatal shooting occurred on January 24, 2015outside Jody’s Restaurant on Alabama Highway 20 in Muscle Shoals. The victims were in a vehicle when they were killed.

The investigation was led by the Attorney General’s Investigations Division and the Muscle Shoals Police Department.

If convicted, Fallows faces the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole, Marshall said.
